A choir of children sang a songIn New York, on April 24, 2005, Muslim Ummah of North America Astoria unit held a Seeratun Nabi (SAW) Mahfeel and a prize distribution program at Shah Jalal Masjid at Astoria. The program started with a recitation from the holy Quran. The Chief Guest was Brother Shamse Ali, Katib of the Indonesia Masjid at Astoria. The special guests were Br. Abu Ahamed Nuruzzaman Central president of MUNA, Br. Harun-Ur- Rashid, Assistant of MUNA NYC Zone, and Br. Abdul Kader, Secretary of MUNA Brooklyn West Unit. The Mahfeel presided by Br. Didar Uddin President of MUNA Astoria Unit, and directed by Br. Firoz Alam, Secretary of MUNA Astoria Unit. A choir of children sang a song.

The Chief Guest Br. Shamse Ali said Prophet (SAW) was a leader with a variety Br. Shamse Ali was delivering his speechof qualities. He was a reformist and changed the human mentality and their hearts to make them good people. He purified the heart of the people to understand Allah. He also said Prophet (SAW) presented Islam as the way of life. Islam doesn't change our life because we understand wrong like as other religion activities limited by some kind of ceremonial function. He mentioned that Prophet (SAW) changed the people of Makka totally. People used to kill their daughters. Prophet (SAW) came to change human behavior. Br. Shamse Ali added that Prophet (SAW) tried to change social behavior. Although he came to a barbaric society, he abolished discrimination, gender gap, and color barrier. He established a society based on social equality and justice. He added we all came from Adam and Eve, so no one is superior to another except Allah.

Br Nuruzzaman said that Islam is gift (Niamat) from Allah (SWT) for all mankind, so when Muslims travel from one place to another, they have to carry over message of peace. He also told that our responsibility is to call people towards Islam, and we have to teach our children about Allah, Islam, Quran, and Hadith. He said it is very important that we have to set an example ourselves. We should live message of Islam

Also more than seven youth, whom were introduced by Mr. Kaiser Ahmed, deliberated their speech, songs, and poem. Br. Faheem said, “Our Prophet (S.W.S) shed his blood during his Prophet Hood to bring and established dean of Allah (S.W.T). Br. Zakir Ahmed mentioned that the leaders of Quraysh came to Prophet (S.W.S) and tried to make a deal by offering him a variety of opportunities, so that he could stop spreading his message. He astonished them by saying, “If you give the moon on one hand and the sun on the other hand, I would not denounce my message, which is from Allah.”

Br. Enamul Haque said the responsibility of Muslim Ummah is to hold the Quran and Sunnah, which is the only way we can save ourselves from hell fire. He added from the Hadith that Prophet (S.W.S) said, “I leave behind two things, the Quran and Sunnah. If you follow these you will never go astray.” Br. Shamsur said in his speech that Prophet (S.A.W) went through many struggles in order to spread the dean of Islam.

Br. Salahuddin also said that Prophet’s mission was to establish Islam in life and he successfully did that in his life. Our responsibility is to continue his mission in his absence. Br. Zubair and Br. Shakir presented a song and poem.

At the end Br. Abdul Kader Distributed prizes amongst the winners. 63 children participated in various events. Prayer was directed by main Imam of Shah Jalal Masjid. The light dinner was served to the audience and also honorary presents were distributed among the all children. More than 200 hundreds men, women and children attended in the Mahfeel. The Mahfeel started at 3:00 PM. and ended at 8:00 PM.
